about me

I was born in Seattle, when there was a billboard on southbound I-5  that said
‘Will the last person leaving SEATTLE – Turn out the lights’.  It was an early
lesson in the power of a strong message, even if the graphics and punctuation
left something to be desired.

I moved to New York to go to Parsons, The New School for Design, fueled by
movies like Funny Face and books like From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  New York has not disappointed, and I find it as magical now as
I did then.

I’ve worked in publishing, with start ups , universities, philanthropic groups,
wine importers, software developers, real estate developers, renown photographers and Type A brides. I even art direct my own kids. Every project is an opportunity
to fall in love with design all over again.

What do I love about design? I love combining creativity with practicality, the application of conceptual thinking and strategy. I also love the business of design – managing the client relationship (and the budget), and fostering a constructive, productive and practical creative process.
